My name is Jean-Claude, born in 1968 in Paris. My life took a turn on September 14th, 1997 after a serious motorcycle accident which lead to the amputation of my right arm. Despite this ordeal, my determination and the support of my friends motivated me to overcome my injuries. After a year of hospitalization and rehabilitation, I set myself the goal of getting back on my snowboard. I competed in disabled ski races before turning to snowboarding, even organizing a boardercross in Méribel in 2007. In 2008, I competed in my first World Cup in Canada.
A sailor since childhood, today I continue my commitment to developing parasports and encouraging other disabled people to practice sports. Following my accident, I went through a long and difficult rehabilitation period, but those around me and my passion became crucial sources of motivation.
Despite the challenges, I managed to return to a level allowing me to participate in parasports competitions within the French HandiSki and HandiVoile centers. My story is inspiring, showing the power of will and joy to overcome obstacles.
Regarding my nautical activities, after stopping Paralympic sailing, I discovered Kitesurfing, which was a great revelation as to my ability to adapt and the chance to be able to pass on this passion. Although this was an improvement on what I could experience, I have always sailed dinghies. However, when I had the chance to try the Gerys 4,7 dinghy, I realized that this boat offered new and exciting possibilities. That's when I started dreaming of new adventures...
"Mon ambition de rendre accessible la voile sur foil, souligne l'importance de faire évoluer la perception du handisport. J'espère que mon histoire vous encouragera à rejoindre cette aventure Gerys Challenge pour donner de la force à ceux qui doutent de leurs capacités." JC
